When I. was in 2nd grade, about 1968. My Mom went into the hospital. She had a problem with her hands. She soon lost use of her arms, then legs and feet. I was young. I didn't know what was wrong. She never showed us kids distress, just love. In 1978 she lost her battle and passed. It was only then, when I was 17 that I first heard of ALS. Bet even then I put ALS in the back of my mind. In 2012 my older brother, Bill complained of pain in his left foot making it difficult to shift. He was an over the road trucker. He went to the doctor, who sent him to a Neuroligist. He was told he had ALS. Through him we found out about the ALS walks. We lost him in 2014. They are the reason I walk. Since then I have walked ALS walks in Ocala, Florida, St. Augustine, Florida, Orlando, Florida, and Manchester, New Hampshire. I have made a great friend, Beth. She lost her husband, David Burton in 2012 to ALS. I like making friends, but don't want to this way. Let's find a cure.
