We are now approaching the fifth year since Sherry's diagnosis.  Sherry was diagnosed with ALS in July of 2016,  Over the past 4 1/2 years  we have seen the disease progress to the point that she is having to use a motorized wheel chair around the house and anytime we wish to go out.   The weakness in her hands and arms have created times when Manson has to use an attendant control to move her.  Due to weakness in her neck the head array had to be removed.  Quiet a task. She recently broke both bones in her right ankle.  She will not be able to stand again. We are still blessed that she is able to speak. She is unable to feed herself but has no problem with chewing or swallowing.  Her breathing has not yet been affected, 

I am now asking you to help me reach my Walk to Defeat ALS® fundraising goal!  In the past four years, Sherry's Striders has been in the top 7 teams in North Florida.  Help us become NUMBER 1 this year.  This is an exciting opportunity for us to work together to support those affected by Lou Gehrig's Disease and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.

Sherry is doing her part by having taken part in 7 research studies in the past 54 months.  Due to the Covid virus there have not been any studies that in which she could participate.  She would consider any new studies that come available. While she doesn't expect these studies to help her, she is hopeful that her participation will lead to a cure in the future. The past few years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of patients and their families. WE CAN'T STOP NOW!
