Thank you for helping TEAM RAY FAMILY reach OUR Walk to Defeat ALS(R) fundraising goal! The Walk to Defeat ALS is May 1, 2021 at Elva Rouse Park in St. Petersburg. The purpose of the WALK is to raise funds to support research, those affected by ALS, and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.

On April 18, 2018 I was diagnosed with ALS. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly steals the bodies ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure. April 2021 marks my 3 year diagnosis anniversary, according to the statistics, my clock is counting down. But it doesn't have to count down quickly. I am taking the two drugs available to 'SLOW DOWN' the progression and I believe they are working. I am also participating in a drug trial from Dr Benatar at the University of Miami. I am on open label now which means I am receiving the drug versus possibly a placebo. I am also participating in a 'SWALLOWING STUDY' out of the University of Florida. It's because of your donations that allow these studies to exist and gain knowledge to combat ALS.

This is why WE are walking. To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to me and my family as WE live and to other families living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: "You Have ALS" again.

The past three years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.

But, we can't stop now. The key to a cure begins with you.
