Tim Cummings, Immediate Past Chair
Retired, Chevron Corporation
St. Augustine, FL
Following retirement from Chevron Corporation in 2004, Tim and and his wife Bobbie moved from Northern California to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Sadly, in June of 2005, Bobbie noticed her first symptoms of ALS. She lived with ALS until March of 2008, displaying throughout her journey the loving, joyful spirit her family and friends loved about her.
Tim became more active with the Florida Chapter through the Jacksonville Walk to Defeat ALS®, the Piece by Piece Awareness Campaign of 2008 and 2009, and the Jacksonville Regional Council. He and more than thirty of his best friends are also involved with The Next Chapter - a social group made up of men and women in northeast Florida who have lost a life partner to ALS, a program run by the Chapter and volunteers. As a board member, he has served on a number of Chapter board committees, participated in numerous advocacy events both across Florida and in Washington DC, served as Chapter Board Vice Chair and recently completed his final year as Chapter Board Chair.
Like all who know ALS, his vision is to see "A World Without ALS." In the short term he believes that "to truly serve people living with ALS and their families in Florida, we need all 20 million Florida residents to become ALS advocates. Our state has over 1600 families currently impacted by ALS. That number will continue to grow and we must do so much more to provide the best possible resources and choices for them."
