Grid Control Systems Technology Manager, Florida Power & Light
Jo-Ann Clynch is manager of grid control systems technology for Florida Power & Light Company. She leads an engineering team to provide reliable and secure grid control operational technology, including integration of new smart devices and renewables, for the real-time control center operations, serving more than 4.8 million customer accounts or more than 10 million people across nearly half of the state of Florida.
Jo-Ann earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Wheaton College (MA), and an MBA from Florida Atlantic University where she was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society. She is an active volunteer veterans’ advocate and lifetime member of the Disabled American Veteran’s Auxiliary. She also serves as a mentor for the Georgia Institute of Technology Alumni Association “Mentor Jacket” program and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
Jo-Ann became passionate about creating a world without ALS through federal legislative advocacy to advance research and patient care a few years after her mother passed away in 2009. Her mother experienced ALS symptoms with no conclusive diagnosis while her father, devoted and dedicated husband, became her mother’s full-time caregiver.
